2026 Annual Meeting of the APS Mid-Atlantic Section

November 13 - 15, 2026 • University of Maryland at Baltimore County (UMBC), Baltimore, MD

The Executive Committee of the APS Mid-Atlantic Section (MAS) is pleased to announce that the Section will hold its annual meeting MAS25 fully in person on the campus of University of Maryland at Baltimore County (UMBC), Baltimore, MD from November 13 to 15, 2026, starting at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 13, 2026.

We look forward to welcoming physicists, students, educators, and researchers from across the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond to UMBC for three days of scientific presentations, networking, professional development, and community engagement.

Established in 2013, the APS Mid-Atlantic Section works to engage and strengthen the physics community in the Mid-Atlantic region and support the APS mission to advance and diffuse the knowledge of physics. The Section serves the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

Graduate and undergraduate students are especially encouraged to attend and submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations. The meeting is expected to include plenary and invited talks, parallel contributed sessions, a student poster session, professional and career development activities, and opportunities to connect with graduate programs and researchers from across the region.

Additional information regarding abstract submission, registration, travel support, accommodations, invited speakers, and the scientific program will be posted as it becomes available.

The 2026 APS Mid-Atlantic Section Annual Meeting will take place on the campus of the:

Detailed information regarding meeting buildings, registration locations, parking, campus maps, and accessibility will be added once the room assignments are finalized.

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM

The meeting will begin on Friday, November 13, 2026, and conclude on Sunday, November 15, 2026.

The program is expected to include:

• Plenary and invited presentations

• Contributed oral sessions

• Student poster presentations

• Career and professional development programming

• Networking and social activities

• Public engagement opportunities

Scope of the Meeting

This regional APS meeting welcomes contributions from all areas of physics, including but not limited to:

• Condensed matter and materials physics

• Quantum materials and quantum information science

• Atomic, molecular, and optical physics

• Astrophysics and cosmology

• Nuclear and particle physics

• Plasma and space physics

• Biological and medical physics

• Soft matter and polymer physics

• Physics education research

• Machine learning and artificial intelligence in physics

• Applied and engineering physics

• Careers, outreach, and professional development

Participation is open to physicists at all career stages and is not limited to individuals located in the Mid-Atlantic region. Undergraduate and graduate students are especially encouraged to participate.

Abstract submission dates and instructions will be announced soon.

All abstracts that follow the APS submission guidelines will be considered for inclusion in the program. Presenters must register for the meeting in order to present.
